Hi, my name is Kaitlyn Boquiren! I have a love for teaching that goes beyond my own classroom. I received my B.A. in Early Childhood Studies from Sonoma State University in 2018. I then went back to my hometown to begin working in the classroom as an instructional aide in a 1st-3rd grade Autism Program. During my two years in this Autism program, I was able to see teachers teach in 1st-3rd grade classrooms, and learn the importance of differentiating curriculum to serve all students. In 2020, I decided to go back to school to earn my dual credential in Multiple Subjects k-8 and a Mild/Mod Educational Specialist from Fresno State. After I received my dual credential in 2021, I continued my education and enrolled into the Special Education Masters Program. At the end of the Fall 2022 semester, I received my Masters in Special Education from Fresno State.
My teaching career began in 2021 as a 1st-3rd Autism Teacher. During my time in this program, I learned the importance of incorporating different types of learning in order for each of my students to succeed. Each of my students were placed on individualized educational plans, which had me create specific learning plans for each of the students needs and abilities. In the Fall of 2023, I accepted a new job position and began to teach general education kindergarten. During the 2023-2024 year, I learned the importance of how students need to master the basic skills of letter identification, letter sound recognition, blending letter sounds together and making words, counting to 100, and knowing one-to-one correspondence. With learning, understanding, and retaining these skills will only prepare your student for success in the years to come when they move on to higher grade levels.
